Governor Idris Wada will support power shift after second term

The commissioner for culture and tourism in Kogi State Mr Kayode Olowomoran in a recent interview was against calls for power shift to another senatorial district in Kogi state, saying if re-elected, the governor would do that after serving his second term in office

Do you see the possibility of power shift in the East senatorial district?

Power cannot be achieved by sitting down; you have to work for it. In that light governor Idris Wada is not governor for only the Igala’s but the governor of Kogi State. He is sensitive this very agitation and that is why he is still the better man the state have for no. after his second term, he is going to support any candidate coming any senatorial region ‘’particularly from the west’’ and the central.

What else do we want from him if he had said this?

If we are going to bring another Igala man to occupy the Lord Lugard House (KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE), that will alter the calculations. So between eight and four years which one is closer? You can see four years is closer

What is four years in the life of a man that the people cannot be patient?

Kogi state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has being in crisis following the outcome of the recent ward congresses among other issues.

Don’t you think the absence of togetherness is like affect your chance?

When you have a responsible leadership, everything can be rest assured that you are getting a good result. When you have the competence to handle the elders, youths, women and ordinary man on the street, then it will be difficult to throw away a winning team. Governor Idris Wada is not an arrogant man; he listens to even the Okada riders in Lokoja. During the just concluded Ramadan period, he goes out to break his fasting with people on the street. He also reaches out to Christians. So for anybody to think the election is going to be a walk over, then the person is completely wrong. And I believe that people are going to give him the mandate again.

Senator Dino Melaye, who represent Kogi West in the senate had expressed confidence that the All Progressive Congress (APC), is 100% sure of winning the election.

Don’t you think that such statement should be taken seriously considering the bandwagon effect that earned the party success during the general election?

He is an individual and in politics you do come out and talk negatively about your ambition. That is his opinion. He expects that but the people knows what they want and we are not playing to gallery we are saying that we need this man re-elected to consolidate what he has already started thereafter, some of us in PDP will go back to what we agreed upon. Now, this is the time to support the consolidation efforts. We have the culture of carrying everyone along in PDP. That’s why we are the largest party in Africa and we are still standing.
